Betadine® Antiseptic Ointment is used for the treatment and prevention of common skin infections such as infected nails and tinea. It is a bacterial, fungicidal and virucidal antiseptic used to prevent infections in minor cuts, and abrasions. Betadine® Antiseptic Ointment is a brown viscous ointment to be used on the skin only.
Clean off any blood or pus as it is expected to react with povidone-iodine leading to ineffectiveness of the preparation. Apply directly to the affected area two to three times daily. Do not use long term and to large parts of the skin (e.g., apply to no more than 10% of total body surface and a duration of 14 days) unless advised by health practitioner. Do not use in children below 2 years of age
