ThreadX® XRD Abdominal Sponges, without tapes, are constructed from 100% cotton layered gauze, making them highly absorbent and non abrasive. It has the approximate absorption capacity of over 8 times its own weight in fluid. This makes it suitable to operating rooms and all open surgical procedures. It is able to help control bleeding and protects organ and tissue injury.

The ThreadX® XRD Abdominal Surgical Sponge has a black x-ray detectable thread is internally heat bonded to the gauze. It also has hemmed seams to prevent the fraying of edges, and making it low linting.
