Mepilex® Border Ag is a self-adherent antimicrobial soft silicone foam dressing that absorbs exudate and maintains a moist wound healing environment. It contains silver sulphate, which has been shown in vitro to create a bacterial barrier and inactivate a range of wound related pathogens including bacteria and fungi. The dressing consists of a Safetac® soft silicone wound contact layer, an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing silver sulphate and coloured by activated carbon, a layer with super absorbent fibres, a non-woven layer, and a breathable waterproof film. It is indicated for the management of exuding wounds such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, partial thickness burns, and traumatic and surgical wounds.
