The Baxter 10% Anhydrous Glucose Injection is used as a source of energy support which can be used alone or can be used in conjunction with an injectable nutrient supplement. It can also be used with an appropriate nutrient protein source (nitrogen) to prevent nitrogen loss or treat negative nitrogen balance in patients where the alimentary tract cannot or should not be used, gastrointestinal absorption of protein is impaired, and metabolic requirements for protein are substantially increased. This is given intravenously to patients and the infusion rate and volume of the Baxter 10% Anhydrous Glucose Injection depend on age, weight, concomitant therapy, clinical and metabolic conditions of the patient as well as laboratory determinations.
